We know God exists because of the world He created
We know God exists because of the world He created |
The
heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork
(Psalm 19:1).
Consequently, the evidence provided by creation leaves man
without justification for denying the existence of God.
For
since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and
Godhead, so that they are without excuse (Romans 1:20).
The Book of Genesis is the foundation of the redemption
story, and redemption is the purpose of the entirety of the Bible. The Book of
Genesis contains the doctrine of Sin, the fall, redemption, justification, the
promise of the Messiah, and Jesus Christ, and the Kingdom of God.
The mission of Jesus Christ was not a reaction to the fall of
man at the Garden of Eden, but a divine plan established before
the foundation of the world.
He
indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in
these last times for you (1 Peter 1:20).
Hence, God promised eternal life before time began:
...
in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began (Titus
1:2).
Before creation, before time
itself existed, God promised eternal life through Christ. This reinforces that
the plan of salvation was eternal, not reactive.
But
we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained
before the ages for our glory (1 Corinthians 2:7).
The salvation by grace and not works was foreordained before
creation.
Who
has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but
according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus
before time began (2 Timothy 1:9).
Believers were chosen in Him before creation
…
just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should
be holy and without blame before Him in love (Ephesians 1:4).
Believers were not an afterthought. God chose them before
the foundation of the world, that is before time, space, or creation existed.
This points to the eternal nature of God's purpose and foreknowledge. This
election is through union with Christ, not based on merit, works, or foreseen
actions, but on God’s sovereign grace through Christ. Christ is the basis of
God's choosing.
i. The
three persons of God lived in fellowship. Before creation, God existed
eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the three distinct persons, yet one
essence. They lived in perfect unity, love, and fellowship. This divine
relationship was not dependent on creation; it is eternal and self-sufficient.
And
now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had
with You before the world was (John 17:5)
ii. The
Elohim the Mighty One, Jehovah the Helper, remained to be Adonai, the Sovereign
Lord, as our dwelling. Before creation, Elohim (God in His power and majesty)
existed eternally. He is the Mighty Creator, who spoke the universe into
existence (Genesis 1:1). As Jehovah (Yahweh), He is the self-existent,
covenant-keeping God, ever present to help His people.
Lord,
You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were
brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from
everlasting to everlasting, You are God (Psalm 90:2).
iii.
God foreordained the mission of Jesus
He
indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in
these last times for you (1 Peter 1:20)
iv.
He promised eternity for human race
in hope of eternal life which God, who
cannot lie, promised before time began (Titus 1:2).
v.
Foreordained the mystery of the Gospel
But
we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained
before the ages for our glory (1 Corinthians 2:7).
vi.
He accomplished the ministry of salvation and
gave grace to us
who
has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but
according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus
before time began (2 Timothy 1:9).
vii.
Chose and separated the believers in Christ
just
as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be
holy and without blame before Him in love (Ephesians 1:4)
viii. He
created the angels, who worshiped Him in songs
When
the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
(Job 38:7).
ix.
Purposed that the earth will be a place of
habitation
For
thus says the Lord, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth
and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed
it to be inhabited: “I am the Lord, and there is no other (Isaiah 45:18).
