Satan cast out of heaven

Satan cast out of heaven

From how the events appear in the Bible, and considering that God is merciful and long-suffering, the devil must have been stubborn long enough for God to pass judgment on him. Therefore, there is a possibility that the devil existed before the creation of the world.

Isaiah is speaking about the fall of Satan into the future. The dramatic fall of Lucifer, who was brightly shining in heaven, is symbolically represented by the fall of the king of Babylon. Hence, the spiritual Babylon. His fall comes in four phases:

i. Satan fell from glorified to impious (Ezekiel 28:14-16).  This is the fall the devil has already fallen as described by Jesus. “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven (Luke 10:18).

The enemy awaits three more falls.

ii. The accuser of brethren will have no access to heaven (Job 1:12, 1 Kings 22:21, Zechariah 3:1) he will be restricted to the earth (Revelation 12:9).

iii. Worse still, he will fall from being the god of this world to bondage in the bottomless pit for 1,000 years (Revelation 20:1-3).

iv. Finally, from the bottomless pit Isaiah 14:12, to the lake of fire, hell (Revelation 20:10).

The reasons behind his fall and that of the king of Babylon were:

pride, selfish ambition to be above all angels, and sitting in the place of honor, aspiring to ascend until all see his bright shining glory, desiring to be glorious, and equal to God.

Lucifer was a glorious angel (day-star, son of the morning, and the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty…the anointed cherub who covers in Ezekiel 28:12, 14). He lacked contentment; hence his fall will ultimately expose his powerlessness.
