Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them (Series 12)

Say to the righteous that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their doings (Isaiah 3:10).

In the last of his last days Jesus likened the Kingdom of God to a master who gave his servants ten talents and told them to occupy till He comes:

And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come (Luke 19:13).

Waiting is trying, that is why at receptions we have magazines, televisions and newspapers, so that as one waits, one is occupied. In the Kingdom of God, we also wait, but as we wait, we must do what waiters do; serve. Serving a master who is not physically present calls for high level of stewardship. And only those with a Father-son disposition may achieve this level of stewardship. Those with master-servant attitude demand supervision.

However, God’s promises are as sure as already done. He who promises never change, He is the same yesterday today and forever.

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us (2 Corinthians 1:20).

And no one whatsoever can thwart His plans, what He has planned and promised, no situation, no circumstance, no witch can change it, only yourself. It shall be permanent.

“I know that You can do everything, and that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You (Job 42:2).

For the Lord of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?” (Isaiah 14:27).

In the Bible we have servants who waited on the Lord, as they waited, God allowed situations. But these situations were meant to reveal the nature of God to them.

Caleb waited for 40 years, Moses waited for 40 years in the wilderness looking after his father-in-law’s livestock, Joseph waited for 13 years (11 years as a slave in Potiphar’s house and 2 years in prison), Jacob 14 years before receiving Rachel, Abraham 25 years for Isaac. …

So Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God.’ 10 And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel [b]wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old. 11 As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in (Joshua 14:9-11).

Joshua received the promise, but 45 years later, the promise was not fulfilled. But we note, he maintained a different spirit.

But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it (Numbers 14:24).

Several things are needful:

1.     Positive attitude

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things (Philippians 4:8).

2.     Focus on Jesus and not the storms

But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” (Matthew 14:30).

3.     Continuous renewal of our mind

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2).

This would help us to wait for the voice of Jehovah Jireh to provide the ram, even when the boy (who may represent our lives, education, career, reputation …) is on the altar, we would still expect His provision.

Even when the water in the skin of water is over, we can still lift up our eyes for His provision and another promise.

And the water in the skin was used up, and she placed the boy under one of the shrubs. 16 Then she went and sat down across from him at a distance of about a bowshot; for she said to herself, “Let me not see the death of the boy.” So she sat opposite him, and lifted her voice and wept. 17 And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said to her, “What ails you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is. 18 Arise, lift up the lad and hold him with your hand, for I will make him a great nation.” 19 Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water (Genesis 21:15-19).

4.     Continue believing even when feeling weak and beaten.

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong (2 Corinthians 12:9-11).
